WHERE DID THE SUMMER GO????

The summer flew by, didn't it? We had a great "GET 'R DONE" poker run the first part of July and everyone had a great time. Chris Bramwell bought out his Trailside Kitchen and provided a wonderful meal for over 200 people. The Nye County Search & Rescue were there to help out, and as always, we had great help to get through the event.

Our "END OF SUMMER" poker run was a great success and we hope it will be even bigger and better next year. We were able to give just over $3,000.00 to the Tonopah Memorial Scholarship Fund. The raffle ticket sales were a big part of that. A big thanks to Bill Dowers and his family for all their help to make this one the success it was.

MANHATTAN BEATS BELMONT 33-20. Our 2nd annual baseball game played in Belmont this year. It doesn't get any more humorous than this. To start with, we couldn't have asked for better weather and we had no serious injuries this year. We must be getting better, or luck played a hand in things. Manhattan gets to keep the trophy bat with a winning score of 33 to 20. After the game we all gathered at the Belmont Inn for a BBQ and some horseshoes. Was a truly great day. Collected $97.00 on the toll road. That money was donated to the 4th of July Kids Events in Belmont for next summer. Thanks to all who played along with that.

"READY FOR A CHALLENGE" ATV RIDE

We had a great time at our "Ready for a challange" ride! Would have been nice if the weather was better. Just when we thought summer was here, it was quite cool and windy. That didn't stop our riders though! Then it was back to the Manhattan Bar for some chow and a little party. We had a birthday party going on for Jesse Romans, a Manhattan resident. So all in all it was quite a fun day. Sorry no pictures this trip.

SUMMER SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

MEMORIAL WEEKEND, May 29 - May 31  SATURDAY May 29  will be the horseshoe tournament. These tournaments are always a lot of fun. SUNDAY kicks off with a parade that anyone is welcome to be in at 10:00 am. Immediately following the parade we will start our Memorial Weekend ATV poker run. $25.00 gets you a great ride and dinner to boot! After the ride we have a wonderful deep pit Bar-B-Q with beef and pork that will melt in your mouth. Come join us for all the activities.

SATURDAY JUNE 12- We have planned an "EXPERIENCED" RIDERS RIDE. We say "experienced"  because if you haven't done much riding some of this will be difficult for you and we don't want to take any chances on anyone having problems with the ride. There are deep ravines with some good sized rocks and some spots with a little side hill riding. It isn't super tough, but it isn't for the novice rider. Keep us posted for more details on this ride.

SATURDAY,   JULY 17 - GET'R DONE POKER RUN  10:00am This is the annual big poker run to benefit the Nye County Search & Rescue and the Boy Scouts. You all know this run and have been enjoying it for several years. The date has been moved up 2 weeks is all. There will be the usual great ride starting in Manhattan at our very own Manhattan Bar and will be going through Belmont. This is a not to be missed event and we hope to see as many turn out for it now that John & I have taken it over as there always was for Scott and Jennifer Rogers. They made it the "not to be missed" event that is has become. $25.00 gets you a great ride and lots of fun and dinner too.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND, September 4 - 6, - On SATURDAY, Manhattan Bar's own "END OF SUMMER" POKER RUN.  10:00am This is to benefit the TONOPAH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND. This will be our 1st annual run and we are hoping to make it bigger and better than last year. This is also a great cause and we hope you will all come out to join us for this one. $25.00 gets you a great ride with a lot of good people and dinner after the ride. I'm sure there will be a few people throwing  horseshoes too. I'm guessing there will be lots of music and dancing for those that are interested later in the evening.
We will ge raffling off 3 gift certificates. Tickets just $5.00 each.
1st    $500.00 gift certificate for Scheels
2nd: $250.00 gift certificate for Cabelas
3rd   $100.00 gift certificate for Scheels

These are the scheduled events. We are also looking at an "organized" camping trip up Barley Creek some time in June. That is if we can get in there. We are planning a big Bar-B-Q and some ATV riding. We don't have all the details in order yet but keep us posted for updates. If we don't get some better weather we may have to move it to July.

DON'T FORGET THE SUPER BOWL PARTY

Super Bowl will be here before you know it. We'll be having a big potluck dinner. I sure hope Bruce Woods brings that hot rod chili again that he brought last year. That was great stuff!!!
We'll be posting boards for super bowl in $10.00, $5.00 and $1.00 squares. Get in before they are all taken up.

~WINTER ATV RIDE~

Way too much fun!!! Don't know why we haven't done this sooner. What a beautiful day we had too. The weather was super. Everyone seemed to enjoy the warming stations with the hot fire and hot buttered rum. Then back to the Manhattan Bar for a steak dinner. Was just a great time.

We definitely have to do this again. What a way to start 2010.

NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY A GREAT ONE

We had spaghetti with meat sauce, chukkar, turkey, deviled eggs, tortillini soup and breads for feasting. And then we had a PARTY!!! What a great one it was.We rang in the New Year with the ol' champange thing and then the partying continued. John & I used good sense and we went home at 2:30 or 3:00. Dawn was out of there at 4:00. I'm thinking good time! The proof is in the pictures........
